Breakdown by West Sussex areas shows consistently high walking rates across the county:
- Adur: 68.9%
- Arun: 72.5%
- Chichester: 74.1%
- Crawley: 67.2%
- Horsham: 72.2%
- Mid Sussex: 73%
- Worthing: 74.1%
This stands in stark contrast to the national trend, where weekly walking rates have fallen nearly 12% below expected levels, even after government funding (£1.4 billion) between 2016 and 2023 intended to reverse the decline.

The timing is no coincidence. This May, the region will play host to Campervan Campout 2026, one of the UK’s most unique outdoor lifestyle festivals, returning to the South of England Showground from 1–3 May 2026. Now in its fourth year, the event blends live music, campervan and motorhome culture, family activities, wellness sessions and street food, with camping and day ticket options available.
