Warners Group Publications plc is a rapidly growing multi-million pound publisher and publishing services company offering real opportunities to individuals with the right attitude, skills and ambition. Due to our continued success and expansion we need to fill the following position:
Warners Group Publications is searching for a new Online Editor to help expand the digital output of two of its major tabletop gaming hobby brands.
Reporting directly to the Head of Content, the Online Editor will be expected to create and curate online hobby news and manage the growing tabletop gaming community on our own platforms and social media.
With an expansion into new media channels, they will contribute to podcast and video streaming. In addition, the Online Editor will have the opportunity to contribute to the print magazine.
As this is a new position there is great scope to be able to make the role your own in collaboration with the wider team.
• Regular content creation
• Social media management
• Community management and engagement
• Contributing to podcasting and video streaming
The right candidate will understand how to craft headlines for digital platforms and write informative, entertaining copy. The role requires a high level of writing accuracy at speed, with fast turnaround on events, releases and announcements. The candidate should be confident dealing directly with press offices as well as resourcefully sourcing their own news stories.
They will be able to leverage social platforms and community for extending the exposure of their content, and that of the wider magazine brands.
The ideal candidate will be confident enough to get to the story behind the game and present that story in an interesting and accessible way for our audience, regardless of the medium it is being presented in.
Experience presenting online streaming and podcast media would be a bonus, as would any experience with audio and video editing. These skills are not essential, however.
A strong interest in tabletop gaming would also be a benefit, but is not a requirement – although a willingness to immerse yourself in the hobby is.
• A familiarity with online content management systems similar to WordPress or Drupal
• An understanding of basic SEO concepts for content
• Strong proofreading and copyediting skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
• Some familiarity with Adobe products
